Best trick I ever picked up. Seriously.

catastrophe-jones

I have also learned this is great for [PICK A COOL NAME FOR A SHIP] and [LOOK UP THE FACTS ABOUT OXYGEN LEVELS] and [WHAT’S THE WORD] and [DOUBLECHECK CHARACTER’S EYE COLOR] and ALL KINDS OF THINGS.

Anything that isn’t critical in the moment, and could be filled in later while I’m currently trying to burn through writing pages that will be lost if I don’t get them out right now? Brackets.

betweentimeand42

This is seriously the best advice, and it really helps put it into perspective that the first draft is just that- a draft. There’s no reason to agonize over a particularly tricky bit of writing when you could just leave it in brackets and skip to the good parts, the parts you’ve visualized. I also use brackets for [fact-check this], [use a stronger verb], [is this in character?] and other notes as I write, just so I don’t forget what I want to work on when I go back and edit.

petermorwood

Note the good sense of [brackets] not (parentheses).

Parentheses AKA round brackets can appear in fiction, usually as an afterthought in a character's thoughts or narration (as I saw them used just recently), but square brackets hardly ever do.

In the early 70s Sesame Street was created with an eye towards educating poor, inner-city children for free, and became a massive hit with all children. In 2016, faced with going off the air forever after facing conservative efforts to destroy public broadcasting since basically its beginning, new episodes became a timed exclusive for premium cable network HBO. In 2022 HBO Max, newly merged with and taken over by reality TV channel Discovery, removed Sesame Street episodes and spin-offs from streaming as a tax write-off and scheme to avoid paying residuals.

saintofpride201

Sesame Street's official YouTube channel is uploading the episodes for free, btw. A lot of creators are rebelling against this bullshit.

As always, America, PBS has you and your kids' backs.

I also want to put in a plug for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, spearheaded by GBH in Boston to preserve and make available public funded programming from around the country.  More than 7000 public television and radio programs are available to stream through the website, with more than 40000 hours of programming archived and available to researchers and educators through the Library of Congress and GBH itself.

Disabled people get in free. He offers a free wheelchair valet so ppl who can't get their own wheelchair wet can still play in the water park.

The entire park is accessible, including the carousel which is designed for wheelchair users. There's a sensory village and playground as well.

A father and daughter, and a theme park entrance.

The text on the image say:

"When Gordon Hartman could not find an amusement park that would accommodate his daughter with special needs, he sold his successful homebuilding business to open a 25-acre non-profit accessible theme park in Texas.

He named it Morgan's Wonderland after his daughter, and this completely wheelchair accessible park is the first and only theme park of its kind in the world."

Hi!!! Gordon Hartman Foundation is a grantor of ours and let me tell you Morgan's Wonderland is amazing!!

It's part of Morgan's Inclusion Initiative which encompasses multiple accessible experiences in San Antonio including:

Morgan's Wonderland theme park

Morgan's Inspiration Island water park

Morgan's Wonderland Sports Complex

Morgan's Wonderland Camp

All of these are designed to be fully accessible to people of all ages with physical and mental disabilities. I'm bringing a group of kids to the camp in a few weeks and they offer EVERYTHING you could imagine at a summer camp including rock climbing, a rope course, ziplining, etc. all accessible for people with mobility equipment! And it's a sleep away camp!! It's amazing.

All of these parks are such an incredible feat of love.

Facebook deleted this almost immediately. It's almost like the ultrawealthy don't want us knowing or talking about what's at stake.

Just want to add one thing:

In countries with universal healthcare, this is a non-issue during a strike. Our access to healthcare isn't tied to working. It's an unconditional right for each and everyone of us.

The US system screws workers over in oh so many ways.

athingofvikings

This is exactly why US companies fight so hard against universal healthcare; even if single payer healthcare is cheaper on a per-person basis and takes the cost away from the employer, it also takes POWER and leverage away from the employers... and they don't ever want to give that up.

fuck it, i never ever do those “reblog for X, this one really works!” posts, but this one doesn’t have any of that BS, this is just straight up wishing us good things; and then the comment doesn’t even say any of that either. Zero claims on this post, all positive vibes

Something something the way that Crowley introduced himself to Aziraphale the first time they met in the garden and reacted as if they had never met before. Something about him later behaving as if he did actually have those memories of their time in Heaven together and trying to pass it off as being someone different now. Something about Heaven's way of punishing angels that go against the plan by erasing their memories. Something about Crowley seeing Gabriel without his memory and saying "ask him properly." Something about "remember it now" "it hurts, to remember. my head isn't built for that" "I know. Do it anyway"

Something about "I know. Looking at where the furniture isn't"

Something about I know

Some of you straight up hate masculine women and gnc women and I wish you'd just say that with your full chest instead of pretending women are oppressed for being feminine when in reality feminine behavior is expected and women are policed by men and each other if they don't present femininely enough. Femininity is looked down upon esp in men but that's bc it's associated and tied to women. Not bc women are oppressed for being feminine

anon-e-mouse-us

I have a friend that travels with a portapotty; because she’s been told, ‘you can’t go in there…that’s the women’s restroom!’ This is usually said (loudly) by large men.

Ya’ll, she’s a hetero cis woman in her 40’s who wears dark colors & no makeup.

But has been threatened(more than once) by a man for 'not being woman’.

'Feminine’ behavior & appearance is absolutely judged & policed by others & God help you if you don’t meet those standards. It’s not fair, & it hurts everyone. Don’t say that you’re trying to 'protect women’ when you just want to be controlling them.
